Welcome to the Club

This page will show the process of joining our club and registering with the FA, joining one of our teams or being added to a waiting list. It explains our registration fees and related payment plans.

Introducing the Club/League Registration Secretary

All registrations to WCFC are made by the Club/League Registration Secretary Ailsa Liddle. For all communications regarding registration and joining the club please contact Ailsa by email. Thank you.

New players

We are always welcome to new players joining Waterbeach Colts FC. We have junior teams from U6 to U18 and have informal taster sessions for our youngest age group once or twice a year.

If you'd like to join us first take a look at our teams and find the appropriate age group for you and whether you want to join a girls only, boys, or mixed team if available for your age.

If there is no team in your age group please speak to Ailsa Liddle who can advise on an appropriate team to join. In the event that there is no available space in your chosen age group you may be put on a waiting list to join that team.

It would be useful to have your FA Number (FAN) at hand if you have one; or register for your FAN before contacting the Club Registration Secretary. See below for details about getting your FAN.

Existing club player annual registration

Existing players must register with the club every year. The Club/League Registration Secretary then registers each player with the Cambridge FA so players are able to play in Cambs FA leagues and cups.

  • Yearly club registration starts in July and is open for a few weeks

  • Registration is made through the Team Fee Pay app/website

  • Each year the Club/League Registration Secretary will send a link for you to use to on Team Fee Pay

  • Registration requires the players FAN (see above for details)

  • Contact Ailsa Liddle if you require help or cannot remember your FAN

Registration Fees

Waterbeach Colts FC is a family focused community club where we think football should be open and available to all. We have some of the lowest registration fees in Cambridgeshire, the club subsidises fees through funding activities such as the Annual Waterbeach Colts Beer Festival and continued sponsorship from local businesses.

  • Yearly registration fee for all players in 2025/26 is £120

  • Optional quarterly payment schemes are available

Fees are essential to running the football club and cover the ongoing costs including:

FA Numbers (FAN)

A FA Number is a unique identifier for anyone involved in football, including players, coaches, and referees.

If you are new to playing football you will have to be registered with the Football Association (FA). The FA will then give each player their own unique FA Number known as a FAN.

  • Parents/guardians of children under 16 will also need a FAN

  • Parents/guardians will need to register for their FAN before adding/linking a child FAN

  • Children 16 or over can register for their own FAN

Register for your FAN at the FA website

If you have played football for a club previously you will most likely already have a FAN, if you don't know you can check on the FA website.

Retrieve/check your FAN

The Club/League Registration Secretary needs the FAN of every player to register players with the Cambridge Football Association so players can play in the leagues appropriate for their age group. Players must also be registered even if they are not playing league football and are only training.
